School Time ...

Heidi and Thomas were telling me about an assembly that they had at school a few days ago, and after asking Heidi what they did she said, " Oh they just did a few skitches"   I think she combined sketch and skit.  I about died laughing.  

She also was doing a math fact homework page, and had me check the answers.  She did great !! I read the first 5 problems and they were all right and then I got to 7 + 3 =  T E N.  No kidding!!  She's such a smart alec sometimes. 

Getting Ready

While Heidi was getting ready for school and getting ready at a very slow pace, I encouraged her to "HURRY UP!" and she came back with, "I'm going as fast as I want to!"  rather than the typical 'I'm going as fast as I can."

Go to bed....

Me:  Heidi Go to Bed!

Heidi: But Mom, you don't know where I am?  Where am I? 
Me: You're in your room by the heater vent (I was in the kitchen washing some dishes)
talking into the vent. Now get in your bed!!
Heidi:  DARN IT!!  

I think she was quite surprised that without seeing her, I knew exactly where and and what she was doing.  Besides, I could hear her voice echoing through the heater ducts.

Mall Talk

Just the other day Heidi said, " Mom, let's go to the Mall!" 
Ethan chimed in with, "We can't! We don't have any tickets." 

That kid of mine cracks me up!!

How old...

We were telling Ethan that in 1 week from today he'd be 3! He got all excited. Then Heidi asked, " How old would Ethan be in dog years?"

Who's Underwear?

Today while the kids were folding up laundry. Heidi was holding up a pair of "boys underwear" . She asked, " Mom, who's are these? Thomas's or Ethan's?" I could tell how small they were and said, "They're Ethan's." "Are you sure? Because they have Thomas's name all over them." (They just happened to be some Thomas the Train Underwear that had the name Thomas all over the underwear as part of the design. )

Flowers...

On Mother's Day last week, Heidi saw the flowers I had in a vase. I told her that we were going to take them to Grandma's today. She came back with, " Why? -- Is she going to die?" I couldn't help but laugh!!

I got a 100 !!

When I picked Heidi up from school today, she got into the car and was going through her homework folder and found a paper. She got all excited and said, " MOM!! I GOT A 100!! " I asked, " On what?" " I don't know, .... on a paper!" Then she told me that it was for her spelling test that she took this week. But just to her how she was so excited about a 100 and didn't know exactly what it was for at first was quite funny to me, who happens to be her mother.

I have an IDEA

Just today: Feb 22, 2008 On the way home from picking up the girls from school, Thomas says out loud, " Guys, I have an idea!" Then he says this: " Lets go home, put on our swimming suits and go sledding!" And Heidi had this to say later in the day: I was asking my girls where the crepe paper rolls were, and Heidi found the red one. I then said, " Do you guys want to help me decorate tomorrow?" " YES! " --- "YEAH!" "To help decorate her CAR!?" I think Heidi got the "reception" and the "bridal shower" mixed up and as for Thomas --uh, yeah right!!

Going Places ....

January 15th, 2008

This morning a few fun things were said, while going "somewhere". It was "early" this morning about 8:30ish. We were driving to SCHOOL and Heidi and Katherine were having this conversation take place as we were about a half mile from the school.

Heidi : "Where are we going?"

Katherine: " To School"

Heidi: " This is a weird way to go"

Katherine: " This is the way we always go, Heidi!"

Heidi: "OH "

And then a little later driving back from the school and we were driving south and the sun was rising up on the east and just above the mountains --- I was pulling up to a light and moved my sun visor to the door window and this conversation happens ---

Thomas: " I don't want that in my eyes" " Put it back there" ( as he points to the rear of the car, up and over his head)

Mommy: " Put what back there?" ( I thought he was upset about the visor)

Thomas: " THE SUN !

Branded for life

If you chance to meet a frown do not let it stay, quickly turn it upside down and smile that frown away, OR (have your sister stamp one on instead. )

Poor little guy falls victim to many of the girls stamping their hearts or smiles out on him.

Heidi had come home from school one day this last week and was able to pick a prize out of the box at school and decided to get this smiley face stamp. Heidi fell victim to the stamp as well. In the top picture you can see a stamp peeking up from behind his shirt --- well Heidi gave herself one as well. Only I didn't think to get any pictures of her.

Freezing .....

November 10th -- My five year old wasn't feeling well and said, "Mommy, this is weird." I asked, " What is weird?" While touching her arms, she says, " My arms are freezing cold," and then lays the back of her hand on her forehead and says, " but my here it's freezing hot."

You're making mud,

Last night for dinner we had burritos, consisting of tortillas and refried beans, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, and olives. The beans that we were using were really thick and on the dry side, Chris asked howcome they are so dry, and if I had added any water to help smooth them out. I said I hadn't added any and then I proceeded to get a measuring cup with a little bit of water to pour into the beans. Heidi watching close by saw what I was and doing and saw how much water I had poured in, and said, " Now your going to make some mud!" Luckily it wasn't mud that we were eating!!

Glass of Milk, Please

January 3, 2007 Heidi asked mommy for a glass of milk. Mommy said, "sure since you asked so nicely." Heidi started to say," I think this was my cup," - pointing to one on the table. I said, " I'm not sure who's it was, so will get a clean one. We don't want to spread germs." " Yeah, cause then I'll have the baby too." ( Because I told her that the cup she thought was hers was the one I had been using, and I was pregnant at this time."

End of December 2006 I wasn't feeling good because I witnessed something GROSS! I started dry heaving and Heidi rand into the kitchen and said, "I'll get you a bowl mommy." She came back with a strainer bowl. All I could do was laugh.

November 2006 Chris took Kaylee, Heidi and Thomas for a little while on a car ride. They went to Office Max and afterwards drove up and around the Provo Temple. On the way home Heidi our the blue says, " I love you Daddy, more than ice cream and cookies!"

October 30, 2006 For Family Home Eveing (FHE) activity we were carving our pumpkins. Katherine asked if she could eat the pumpkin. Chris said, "Of course." So she took a bite and said, " It's good!" So Heidi wanted to try as well, she took a bite but didn't like it as much. Katherine decided to go wash off her piece. Heidi said, " I'll wash mine off too! Maybe it won't taste so yucky!"

"These Are Boobs"

January 2006 While walking through WalMart we passed the lingerie section. Heidi was looking at something and feeling them. Two ladies were near by talking and heard Heidi say, " These are Boobs!!" in a semi - loud voice. They started to laugh and I turned around to see what she was looking at and laughed. She was looking at a BRA.

What Cereal??

When asking Heidi one morning what she wanted for breakfast she said, " Cereal"

I asked her what kind, because we had Cheerios and Kix as options. She simply said, "the balls!" meaning Kix cereal because it's shaped like little balls.

January 3, 2006 While looking at a wedding picture Heidi said, "This looks like Dad. " " Mommy is the Daddy?" I said, "Yes." Then she points to me and asks " Is this mommy?" I said, "Yes." then I said, " that's a picture from when mommy and daddy got married." She looked at me with her eyes big and said, " MARRIED?" I said, "Yes." Heidi then simply responded "WHY?"
